About Our Academy

Mission Statement

At Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy, we are dedicated to nurturing the whole child — spiritually, intellectually, and morally — guided by the charism of the Sisters of Saint Joseph. Rooted in the Catholic faith, we strive to cultivate a community where students reason clearly, think critically, and judge wisely.

Inspired by the call to "move with the Spirit to bring about God’s reign," we seek to instill a commitment to justice, service, and compassion in our students. We recognize and develop the unique gifts of each child entrusted to us, fostering an environment where all children — regardless of religion or culture — are welcomed with understanding and respect.

Through academic excellence, faith formation, and a deep sense of community, we prepare our learners to become the leaders of tomorrow, living out the Gospel values in a world that needs their light.

Vision Statement

Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Academy fosters a strong Christian environment and academic excellence. Rooted in faith, we nurture personal responsibility, service, and leadership. Through rigorous academics and holistic development, we prepare students to grow in wisdom, compassion, and integrity.

Our Philosophy

We believe it is our responsibility to recognize and develop the unique gifts of each child entrusted to us.

Spiritually, we deepen the awareness of God’s presence by helping our students know Jesus. We believe that by growing in His knowledge and love, they are better able to treat others with Christian kindness. We develop informed Catholics who understand their faith through the teachings of the Gospels. We welcome children of all religions and cultures to our school community, and we reach out to them with understanding and respect. Our school stresses personal responsibility as well as concern for others. Programs and activities throughout the year encourage students to become involved in the loving service of others in need.

Academically, we adhere to the current standards set forth by New York State and the Diocese of Brooklyn. Our faculty strives to keep informed of current trends in education and technology so they can implement them in the classrooms. Our teachers believe that children acquire knowledge in many ways, so they use various techniques to reach all types of learners. Students are assessed on a regular basis throughout the year so that adjustments can be made when necessary. All these measures ensure that we are successful in providing each child with the opportunity to develop a strong academic foundation. Our students are taught to reason clearly, think critically, and judge wisely.

The physical and social needs of our students are considered throughout the day based on their ages to ensure that we both challenge and address these critical areas of development.

We will work conscientiously to realize our ideals in a community that is contemporary, enthusiastic, unbiased, and open to the future.
