Principal's Letter October 2022

Dear Parents,

As we enter October and start our after-school clubs and regular routines, I want to thank Lisa Seibert and Nita Spano for organizing our special parent social this past Friday. It was great to see so many new and returning faces. We look forward to many more events this school year. As we look back at our busy September, I want to thank Father McBrien who celebrated a Mass for the opening of this new school year on September 13th and all our students and teachers were blessed and welcomed back to school.

Our catalog sale is in progress. Please take a moment to look through the catalog and support our school through the sale of items. Students can earn prizes through their sales as well. You can go to supportmyschool.org and use school i.d. code 431347.

Our Halloween Party is always enjoyed by our children. This year it will be celebrated as a Trunk or Treat event on Friday, October 28 in the large school parking lot. Details will follow from the Home Academy Association, our Family Unity Network.

Terra Nova testing begins on Tuesday, October 11 and ends on Monday, October 17 for grades 3-8. As always, students should have a healthy breakfast, arrive to school on time and only stay home if sick. Try to schedule appointments for late afternoons or another week to avoid having to reschedule parts of the test.

A reminder to all that although our Covid protocols have eased, we should always take precautions when sick. Do not send your child to school if they are not feeling well. We are reverting to pre-Covid policy that if a child is out for three consecutive days, they do require a doctor’s note to return to school. Call the office to report absences before 8:00am. Face coverings are not mandatory, but you may choose to have your child continue to wear face coverings. We do have a mix of children wearing and not wearing masks, so no one should feel out of place. We continue to clean, wipe, sanitize as often as possible throughout the day.

Registration is ongoing, new students are always welcome. We have a number of seats available in our NYC PreK for All Program (4 year olds). If you know of someone who is an NYC resident, have them give us a call.

As always, we ask for your assistance to keep our children safe. Please respect our crossing guard’s and safe patrol’s directions. Please do not block the private driveways at any time. 258th Street is closed from 7:30am-8:30am and from 2:30pm-3:15pm. Do not back up on the one- way street at any time.

Respectfully,

Joseph Venticinque, Principal
