Principal’s Letter : May 2023

Dear Parents,

And here we are in the final months of the school year. May is always a busy month.

The month of May is dedicated to our Blessed Mother, Mary. Keep the 8th graders receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation and 2nd graders receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion in your prayers as they take their next steps in their faith journeys. God bless them and may the Holy Spirit be with them today and always. On May 12, Bishop Brennan will be here for our annual May Crowning. Join us on May 16th for our annual Band Concert and Fine Arts Display. Bishop Chappetto Hall will be decorated with student artwork from the school year. Doors will open at 6:15pm. Additional details will follow.

An important fundraiser is our Spring Raffle. Cash prizes of $1500, $1000, and $500. Chances are $10 each and can be found on the school website at https://olscafp.org/springraffle/. Thank you for supporting our school and good luck.

And we will have our Annual OLS Walk-A-Thon on June 7. Please encourage family and friends to sponsor your child. Our fundraisers provide valuable monies to keep our tuition as low as possible. Flyers are available on the school website.

Please speak with your children regarding the importance of good nutrition. Encourage healthy eating habits at home and at school. Let’s stress the importance of fruits and vegetables comprising a balanced meal. Providing a nutritious breakfast and lunch promotes a healthy lifestyle. It is important for students in Nursery through Third Grade to have a healthy snack. As noted in the school handbook, fast food should not be brought in as a student’s lunch.

We are also reminding parents to send in water bottles with your child for lunch and snack time. As the warmer weather approaches and recess consistently is outside, the students will be drinking more water. At lunch we have been going through too many plastic cups because children do not have water. Also, we ask that you replace any sugary drinks with water.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Respectfully,

Joseph Venticinque
