Principal’s Letter: June 2023

June 2023

Dear Parents and Guardians:

The final few weeks of the 2022-23 school year are here. On Friday, June 16, 2023 we will send off another graduating class. I take this opportunity to congratulate each graduate and their family. We wish you all the best. Especially during this 75th Anniversary at our Parish, never forget that you graduate from school, but not from Church here at Our Lady of the Snows. We are proud of you and know you will continue to make us proud in your chosen high school. OLS will always be your home.

All summer assignments are posted here. Please review them for mandatory summer reading and math information for all students entering Grades PreK to 8. Summer reading book reports and assignments must be returned on the first days of school in September, because it will be included in the Language Arts/Social Studies/Math mark for the first marking period.

Requirements for all grades will be available on the school website. Books must be chosen from the required list. It is important that your child read for pleasure every day over the summer break. Please take this responsibility seriously so that your child will maintain the skills learned this past year.

School supply lists for September for all grades will also be available on the OLS website by the end of June. Please keep them for referral. A reminder to grades 5-8 that no spiral bound books or ring binders are allowed in school. Eight-pocket folders for students in Grades 5-8, which can be purchased in our school office for $7 or in school supply stores, should be used instead. Please remember to label all school supplies and all uniforms and clothing.

As the summer weather approaches, I remind you that students are not allowed any fad haircuts or dyeing/bleaching of their hair and proper uniforms are required at all times.

Gentle Reminder – Be respectful of our neighbors around the school. No blocking driveways, no double parking. Follow the NYC traffic regulations.

Please review the final June calendar for important events and schedule for final days of school.

In closing, I thank you for entrusting your children to us and for the opportunity to educate and instruct your children. May each of you enjoy a restful summer. God Bless you! Stay healthy and well.

Respectfully,
Joseph Venticinque
Principal
