Dear Parents and Guardians:

It has come to our attention that yesterday afternoon, by the Key Food on Union Turnpike, one of our students was followed by a stranger after dismissal. A parent from our school noticed the potential for danger, intervened, and informed the police. We are grateful for her help and encourage all of our parents to look out for the welfare of all of our children.

We have contacted our local police precinct (105th precinct) about this incident, issues with homeless persons, traffic concerns, and the new clinic that has opened on Union Turnpike. They have assured us that they will be taking steps in the next few days to step up patrols in the area.

We ask that you continue to speak to your children about being aware of their surroundings, especially if they are traveling to and from school on their own. We also ask that you contact your local public official to address neighborhood concerns. We will continue to work in partnership with you for the safety and well-being of all of our students.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any concerns.
